The SeaWiFS (Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor) satellite keeps an eye on the biological health of our world. It records the color of every spot on Earth. The blues correspond to water¸ while the greens indicate the distribution of plants and plankton around the Earth. For example¸ the more plankton that is spread across the surface of the ocean¸ the greener it's going to look. Color changes of the Earth can indicate plant growth during the spring or changes in landscape due to urban sprawl. (Updates every 12 hours.).
